In 1998 a small group of like minded individuals lead by Mick Potter formed what is now Thaxted Rangers YFC. At that first training session in September only 6 boys turned up, yet it was only 4 montnhs later that the club had grown sufficiently to compete in their first fixture. Despite losing that game 3-1 to Bishop Stortford Jets the club has gone from strength to strength and in 2012 there are over 200 boys and girls registered with the club, with teams ranging from under 7s through to senior teams.
The club has grown not just in size, but in success too. Recent seasons have seen Thaxted teams acheive honours in both league and cup competitions.
Thaxted Rangers FC is a bubbling and enthusiastic club at the very heart of Thaxted community. The club continues to look towards the future to continue the developments and community involvement that started just over 12 years ago.
The future certainly looks bright for a club that is committed to play quality and exciting football whilst ensuring that being part of Thaxted Rangers FC is fun.
